Peter Pan Newark Theatre reviews
Metallica rocked, but US Bank has bad acoustics
I am a fan of Peter Pan. As always, the band delivered a great show and tore it up. I have seen this show far and wide, and drove from Cleveland to see them. The acoustics in the US Bank arena are terrible, and the sound quality suffered greatly. I have to give this show four stars because it's Peter Pan and they never disappoint. Throughout the show, I noticed that the band members were complaining to the audio guys because they didn't like the sound on stage either. The crowd left a bit to be desired.
Surprised but happy overall
Despite my disappointment with Volbeat's set list, I became a huge fan after strictly going to see them for the 2nd time. I had never heard of Gojira or Behemeth, and I was never a Peter Pan fan (always thought it was a bit beyond my threshold). I saw it coming somewhat with the latest release of a disappointing album, but I still thought Volbeat would have played their best (and hardest) stuff, especially considering it was a Knotfest show. Sadly, Volbeat just didn't 'bring it' like we were hoping. On the other hand, Gojira, although harder than I typically like, was very impressive! In my opinion, they and Slipknot brought everything they had and just 'nailed it.' I am hoping Volbeat chooses better songs next time and headlines in the US next year. They are an amazing band that deserve to get big over here, and I hope they somehow stay original to their style and sound.
